Vote For The Worst

So my wife and I are not watching American Idol, at least for a while.
I could go on a rant about how evil I think this show is, but the good folks at VOTE FOR THE WORST have expressed all my thoughts better than I could. Use the link.

Yay Me!

I "forgot" to tell my wife that American Idol was on last night. Heehee...

Award-Winning

Our new contract-engineer, Jim: a very nice guy. Yesterday I passed his cube and saw this:

A Freaking Emmy! I've worked in the TV biz for 33 years and never gotten one of those! I wonder, if I borrowed it and got my name engraved on the base, if he'd miss it. Nah, I'm sure he's got more at home, heehee.

Boomer Sooner Babe

Yesterday, a co worker gave my wife the best present she could ever imagine:

A pair of University of Oklahoma slippers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those Sooners may go and lose to Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl by ONE stinkin' point, but they're still Number One in her book!

Into the Bowels of Technology

I spent most of the weekend inside the old computer that I took out of service 3 months ago.

I found that the old case and many of the parts can be reused if the core of the computer is updated, so I'm putting a new motherboard with an AMD64 processor in the thing. I've not been a big fan of AMD but we'll see how it works out. The CPU sure needs a honkin' big fan to cool it though!

Hopefully, it'll serve as a second desktop for the home and music player. W00t!

(Why don't MAC owners ever update their compys like this? Oh, yeah...)

Popcorn

We finally got a new microwave this week after the old one that we had for 20 years keeled over and died. The wife immediately went out and bought some bags of popcorn to try in the thing.

It's so cool that the 'wave has a "popcorn" button, so you don't have to wake up your brain to enter the popping time needed to reach popped perfection.

So my daughter was reading the instructions on the popcorn bag, and one of the instructions is:

Do not use the POPCORN button.

Puzzled am I.

New Year and All That Goes With It

My resolution for 2007 is to work on becoming a "better" person, and part of that paradigm is a return to regular blogging. So here goes:

One of the things I did on my Christmas time off was to look for a new music site to put my yowling renditions of my original songs on. MySpace is almost played-out, I don't do video so YouTube is not an option. I've found one that I'm going to try for a while. It's called Amie Street dot Com. Here's a banner for it:

Amie Street has an interesting business model. Songs start out free, then the more popular they get, the more they cost to download. Up to a maximum of 85 cents, I think. It'll be interesting to see if an unknown sensitive-singer-songwriter who rarely plays live and has no fanbase will get enough downloads to warrant actually charging for music. Egad!
